Local HistoryThe History of Trigony goes back along way, at least to the 18th Century when it was the shooting & fishing lodge for Closeburn Castle.
In the 19th Century A Miss Francis Shackerly lived here, later to become the Oldest Person in Scotland at 109 years and a Sunday School Teacher for 80 of them! Then in 1938 Some of the best Craftsmen in the south of Scotland were used to put in our beautiful Japanese oak Panelling and the Deco Style Stair Case & Long Landing Windows.
The Tradition of change with care continues at Trigony with our restoration of the Gardens.
Our Country House Hotel is set in the beautiful rolling countryside of Nithsdale, steeped in history both natural & physical. The River Nith runs through the heart of the valley with the Southern Uplands to the north & the dramatic Solway Coast to the south. It is a place of quiet country roads ideal for exploring on foot or by bicycle.
