Trigony Country House Hotel is a beautifully furnished hotel in Scotland that is a very welcoming gay hotel in Scotland. Located in a quiet part of Scotland and set in its own large and mature gardens Trigony is one of Scotlands finest hotels and makes a perfect place for a relaxing break where the hotels owners Adam and Jan do their best to encourage a relaxed athmosphere where you will be made very welcome.
It’s only a couple of years ago that the press was full of stories about hotels and bed and breakfast establishments in Scotland who were refusing to let same sex couples stay the night. These reports rightly caused outrage amongst the gay community but unfortunately, to some extent, also tarred all hotels north of the border with the same brush. Thankfully, some hotels have fought hard to get rid of this image.
I can testify to the quality,
and friendly reception I and my partner
received at the Trigony Country House
Hotel in Dumfries and Galloway in
Scotland.
The owners, Adam and Jan Moore have built the hotel’s reputation on the hospitality and the fine cuisine they provide using mostly local, organic ingredients. All the food is prepared with the greatest of care - from the homemade organic bread to the ice-cream. Adam, who is also the head chef, and his partner Jan ensure that the guests can truly enjoy their stay in the serenity and calmness of this inspiring gay hotels hideaway.
The hotel can
arrange a series of activities including;
horse-riding, falconry, Land Rover safaris,
they can even arrange for a vintage car for
you to explore the beautiful countryside
and its historical monuments. The area is a
haven for walkers and cyclist and perhaps
more importantly to all you animal
lovers...the hotel is pet friendly.

DIVA
BEST OF BRITISH
The Trigony Hotel is pleasantly designed in a classic, unpretentious style and is set amid a lovely landscaped garden. Adam (also the talented hotel chef) and his partner Jan are the perfect hosts. They clearly welcome gay couples and were happy to take the time to chat to me and suggest walks and activities, like the Land Rover safari.
I took their advice and was driven around the Buccleuch estate by Richard Riely, a man who knew as much about farming and the natural world as I do all things urban. He took me across fields and streams, up craggy dirt roads and through crowds of sheep to the very top of a mountain. It was cold up there above the clouds. I drank steaming hot coffee from a flask and devoured the most delicious cheese and pickle sandwich ever. I looked out over the misty landscape, Drumlanrig Castle looming majestically in the distance, and right then I realised why more and more Brits are choosing to holiday in the UK – it’s not the credit crunch, or the carbon footprint, it’s because our country is just bloody beautiful.
