Our wine list is hand picked to complement our rustic cuisine, so as well as some familiar faces from the new and old world we have tried to pick some more unusual examples of top quality rustic European wines, such as the Portuguese “Esporao Reserva” and the Sicilian single vineyard “Nero d’Avola”, as well as the “Croix Chaptal” from the south west of France.

 

If you are considering booking a large party and would like to choose your wine in advance, then this is an ideal opportunity to make sure we have enough to cover your requirements.

Red Wines

House Reds & Rosé

  • No.1.Chateau Gros Moulin, Cotes De Bourg, Bordeaux. 2001
    This is a terrific easy drinking Claret, Merlot & Cabernet, forest fruit to the fore and a lovely softness to the finish

  • No.1a. Hegarty Chamans, Cuvée 3, Minervois, France. 2004
    . With a blend of 50% Carignan, 40% Syrah and 10% Grenache it has great  fruit concentration with  hints of Cherries & Plumbs and  a hint of Spice and finely integrated tannins.

  • No.2. Grenache Rosé, Geoff Merill, South Austalia. 2005
    A wonderful rosé, fresh vibrant raspberry fruit with aromas of violets.

  • No.3. Chianti Classico, Fontodi, Tuscany. 2003
    A  great Tuscan red, silky smooth & elegant with Great depth of Flavour,  spicy forest fruit and a hint of oak.

  • No.4.Fleurie, Domaine de Gry-Sablon, Beaujolais. 2004
    A delicious fruity smooth Beaujolais from one of the top villages and a very good producer

  • No.5. Rioja, Muga Reserva, Spain 2002
    From one of the oldest wine makers in Rioja, A rich, complex wine exhibiting Graves-like nose of minerals, caramel, vanilla and rich blackcurrant and cherry. Full-bodied, revealing that elusive lead pencil character often found in top Riojas.

  • No.6. Grangehurst Cabernet Merlot, Stellenbosch, South Africa. 1998
     Deep ruby colour; complex red and black cherry berries with violets, cedar and mocha; these aromas carry through to the palate which is rich and full with rounded tannins and a silky texture. A blend of two of the Bordeaux grape varieties - 79% Cabernet Sauvignon and 21% Merlot. Matured for over 2 years in mainly French oak barrels.

  • No.7.La Croix Chaptal, Cuvee Charles, Coteaux du Languedoc, France1999
    This is from the south west of France, made with a blend of Syrah Grenache & Carignan matured in oak Barrels, unfiltered giving a characterful medium bodied wine with forest fruit flavours and
    balancing tannins,  an Elegant  yet easy drinking Wine

    A blend of Cabernet & Merlot Aged for 12 months in Oak, superb concentration,. lovely rich earthy berry fruit with a touch of Vanilla & a long smooth finish.

  • No.9. Nero d Avola, baglio Curatola,Villa Tonino. 2004
    Baglio Curatolo is a single vineyard award winning Nero d Avola ,quite spectacular for the price, Intense and ripe fruit yet fresh and balanced, the best vintage yet of this marvellous wine!

  • No.10. Esparão, Reserva, alentejo, Portugal, 2003
    An excellent Portuguese  wine, wild berries with a touch of oak & Mediterranean herbs. A  full bodied rich
    wine with great concentration a long finish.

  • No.11. Montes Alpha Syrah. Chile . 2004
    Syrah grapes have only recently been introduced into Chile and this wine has been matured for 12 months in new French oak barrels to provide a truly great example of this classic Rhône varietal.

  • No.12 Gigondas, E. Guigal, Rhone, France. 2003
    This is rich and spicy with gamey black cherry flavours, Full bodied and aromatic.
    The appellation requires 25% Mourvèdre but M.Guigal includes 35% in his Gigondas, the balance being Grenache. £26.50 per bottle

  • No.13. Volnay, Remoissenet, Burgundy, France. 1993
    Coming from an excellent concentrated vintage, this wine has an almost velvety feel with red fruit, hints of spice and integrated tannins.

    A lovely fruity wine lighter than the Moulin-a-vent displaying all the floral charm, which is typical of this delightful village.

  • No.16. Les Escarboucles, Chateau l’Euziere. Pic Saint Loup. 2003
    One of the best wines from this area of France, wonderfully tarry fruit from old vine Syrah and Grenache with a hint of oak.  A lovely, full bodied wine with great depth and complexity, the perfume of Southern France, excellent with food.

  • No.17.Bourgogne Pinot Noir, Renommee. 1997
    One of the best entry level burgundy’s from an award winning producer, with unusually, some bottle age lovely colour with a vibrant perfume of summer fruits and hints of black cherries on the Palate.

  • No.18. Domaine du Pavillon Mercurol, Crozes-Hermitage, Rhone. 2005
    A small estate in the Rhone valley producing a wonderful hand-crafted Crozes-Hermitage.  A full-bodied, spicy dark wine, intense forest fruit and a touch of pepper.

  • No.19.Moulin-à-Vent, Joseph Pellerin, Beaujolais. 2004
    From the heart of the Beaujolais region, made from the Gamay grape  from old vines characteristic concentrated & full bodied fruit with balancing tannins, pure old world fruit, an excellent Beaujolais.

  • No.20. Pinot Noir, Ata Rangi, Martinborough, New Zealand. 2004
    An excellent New Zealand Pinot Noir, rich, concentrated cherry fruit with a slightly minty bouquet. Elegant & silky with great finesse.

  • No.22. Chateau Du Glana, Cru Bourgios, St Julien, Bordeaux. 2000
    An Excellent Claret, won the 5 star decanter award for the 1997 tasting. Ripe Blackcurrant Fruit, elegant with fine tannins and a stylish lingering finish.

  • No.23. “Gisep” Barbera d’ Alba, Masolino, Serralunga di Alba. 2003
    One of the best Barberas from this area of Italy Made in tiny quantities, aged in Oak for six months prior to bottling. Good depth, supple fruit and a ripe, plumy character with a hint of Oak

  • No.24. Ribera del Duero, Reserva, Finca Villacreces. 2001
    This is  a stunning wine from Ribera West of Rioja similar in style  but far more elegant then most riojas. Rich & full bodied with a long finish, the fruit balanced by soft rounded tannins

    An excellent white wine from the south of France. Wonderful perfume, Medium  dry, with a hint of Tropical fruit.

    A dry and wonderfully fragrant wine with loads of crisp, ripe appley fruit.

    An impressive Pouilly with a Classic Sauvignon Blanc Character, hints of Gooseberry & Elderflower, richness balanced by lovely fresh acidity

    A straightforward Cuvee, but still crisp and elegant with good fruit and a minerally finish.

    A very good Soave.  Lovely rich fruit with a hint of Almonds from one Italy’s finest producers.

  • No.30. Domaine des Corbilleres, Sauvignon de Touraine, Loire, 2005
    An excellent example of a simple Sauvignon Blanc, situated from a small vineyard with low yields and top quality fruit.  It has lovely aromas of gooseberries and an intensity of crisp, minerally fruit, which gives great length, better than many a Sanncerre.

  • No.31. Soave, La Rocca, Pieropan, Italy. 2005
    Simply put the best Soave there is. This is a single vineyard wine, made solely from, the Garganega grape from old
    vines , hand picked grapes are fermented in oak casks producing a rich, spicy long & complex wine, one of Italy’s best white wines, and simply one of the best wines on the list, not to be missed! .

    A crisp and elegant Chardonnay  with good forward Crisp fruit and a delicate mineraly finish with a touch of

    A village that is so often overlooked but offers great value, rounded and complex, this wine has subtle hints of oak, purity of fruit and fine minerality.

    From one of the best German winemakers, a medium dry Riesling from hand-picked, late harvest grapes. This great vineyard has produced a very elegant wine with, apple and apricot fruit and  an explosive fragrance of garden flowers.

    60% Sauvignon Blanc and 40% Semillon. The Sauvignon gives fresh, crisp, tropical fruit characters to the wine whilst the Semillon adds richness.

  • No.39. Gewurztraminer Domaine Schlumberger, Grand Cru Kessler, Alsace, France 2001
    A wonderfully  intense, complex wine, flavours of spicy honey, apple & Pineapple  with balancing acidity, aromas of Wild flowers.

  • No. 40. Specogna, Pinot Grigio, Venezia Giulia. Italy
    Ripe Pinot Grigio grapes are red in colour and because of Specogna's passion for maceration and his aversion to fining, this is one of the few remaining 'coppery' ( or ramato) Pinot Grigios. Beautiful purity of fruit .

    A delicious & intensely aromatic wine from one of California’s finest wine makers, medium dry, bursting with fruit,white peach with hints of jasmine.
